Case Study

We’ve all been there — more work than can reasonably be done, not enough team members to spread the wealth. Rather than overstress your existing team members, sometimes outsourcing to a creative agency can be just the trick. And that’s exactly how it worked for Jewish Community Services (JCS). While they worked to fill in some vacant roles on their marketing & communications team, they deployed Sunny Side Creative’s services to tackle a mix of projects over a three-month period.
We kicked off by supporting their efforts in creating their 2023 Annual Report. From a design perspective, we provided recommendations on moving from a traditional PDF upload to an animated, digital format to make the annual report more engaging. From a content perspective, we devised different layouts to vary the stories we told about JCS’ impact through its comprehensive suite of services — and wrote/edited the corresponding anecdotes, quotes, statistics, and messaging to reflect JCS’ voice and constituents.
Once the annual report was wrapped and live (check it out!), we moved into tackling digital signage templates. With hundreds of visitors to their Park Heights and Owings Mills locations, digital signage was the best way to reflect the happenings, services, and programs available to visitors. We created multiple templates featuring various layouts in Canva that could be used to promote those activities and easily activated. Simultaneously, we helped troubleshoot challenges in their new project management tool, Asana.
Finally, we closed out our partnership by preparing a series of media alerts to promote specific programs and events taking place throughout the fall of 2024. While we were delighted to help JCS cover the vacancy gap, we also learned a great deal about the role they play in our community and how extensive their services truly are.
Now they’re fully staffed, and we have a very cool partner that we look forward to working with again when the opportunity arises!
