Case Study

Website Redesign
Shore Legal Access’s website faced a few significant challenges. It didn’t easily convey the breadth of the organization’s services to prospective clients, volunteer attorneys, and community partners. Nor was it easy to understand how the organization provided services to clients. Additionally, it was difficult to navigate and lacked accessibility and translation features, a key need given its large constituency of Spanish and Haitian-Creole speakers. Time for a website redesign.
After brainstorming with Shore Legal Access and our design and development partner, Be Kinetic, we identified that the site should be helpful, resourceful, and optimistic to reflect the organization’s new brand. We expanded upon how each area of civil legal need could be addressed by Shore Legal Access with clear, tangible examples to help readers understand if their problem could be solved by the organization.
A custom animation by partner Match Zimmerman walked prospective clients through the attorney matching process. We also created a resource library for clients that could be sorted by area of need and county to find immediate support. One request that we were all too happy to oblige: a quick exit function for any vulnerable individuals experiencing family and domestic violence.
The new site feels more dynamic, lively, and engaging, while making it immediately clear to users how they can get or provide help. A new blog feature allows Shore Legal Access to share timely and relevant content with its various audiences.
And now, all of its constituencies are reflected and represented on the site, allowing Shore Legal Access to ensure that justice truly is for all.

Among our chief priorities were streamlining the usability of the site while amplifying the organization’s services and capabilities. We also wanted to incorporate its new color palette and messaging. But most importantly, we wanted users to easily understand how they could most benefit from or support Shore Legal Access.
